Christmas is here! What did you get to your loved ones? This year I gave leather journals. They are my favourites because the leather is so smooth or it can have a wrinkled texture.

This one was a present for my boyfriend's aunt. On Christmas' Eve we exchanged presents:

This is a medieval crossed bookbinding done with cattle leather. It's a leather half flexible and with a wrinkled texture. The next one was a present to my boyfriend:

That's the same technique as the other one, but it's made with lamb leather. It's so soft! It's almost like suede and it's very flexible. The next one is going to be for my mother-in-law, who I am seeing tomorrow:

That one is cattle leather and it's also half flexible, but this one is smooth. I hope she likes it!

By the way, what do you think about the photos? Are they better with the white or the brown background?

Méliès in a journal - Méliès encuadernado

I made this beautiful journal for my boyfriend, who is very fond of the origins of the cinema. I specially chose this paper because of the image of the "Man in the Moon" from the film by George Méliès.
The journal is 21x15 cm (8x6 in). I used a Graphic45 paper (from the collection "Curtain Call") for the front cover and the inside of both covers. For the back cover I just used black fabric.

I just found this amazing website that sells papers; however, since this website only sells in Spain, this post is only going to be in Spanish.

Support real people - Apoya a personas reales

I found this in another blog, and I really liked it, so I thought I would share. The girl (http://paper-n-sort.blogspot.mx/) didn't know where she had found it:

Muestra tu apoyo a personas reales.

This is a crossed bookbinding in suede. It is a Medieval style, it almost doesn't need any glue, it's just sewn. I really like that you can see the actual thread :)

To my friend Nicté - A mi amiga Nicté

I made this journal as a present to my friend Nicté, whose birthday was the past August 29th (I know... so late!!!). It is a coptic binding and the covers are made with Amate paper, a traditional Mexican paper with natural leaves.
Sorry for the bad quality of the pic.

Starting! ¡Empezando!

Welcome everyone who steps by. My name is Anna and I am currently living in México, even though I was born in Girona, Spain.
In this blog I intend to publish my work in bookbinding and those little things bookbinding-related that I find interesting.

First of all, I just discovered this shop that sells Japanese fabrics and clothes. I found it so interesting! It sells online, but it also has a physical place in Barcelona. When I come back I will definetly visit it. From what I see online, their fabrics look amazing and they are not really that expensive.
The shop is called Nunoya and this is their link: http://www.nunoya.com/

Take a look and tell me what you think, specially if you have visited it :)
