Flower Time in the workshop

The beautiful city of Girona embraces spring every May celebrating a festival of flowers called Temps de Flors, which translates Flower Time. The cathedral, the traditional buildings and monuments are decorated with flowers. But also the hotels, restaurants, cafés and shops participate decorating their exterior and interior walls and display windows.
Today I wanted to show you how was decorated the workshop where I learnt bookbinding.

My teacher wanted to show the people from the street the basic steps to make a book. Here the signatures are in the press to make the holes.

On the side the people could see how the text block is sewn.

Then, one could find the text block in the press. This text block is special, because it shows the many stages of the process that takes place in the spine. 

Finally, one could see some covers with no text block and a finished book.

The shears were decorated too.

As were the presses, like this one.

This was in one of the display windows.

This was another one. The books shown were made by the pupils!

I hope you enjoyed this pictures. I certainly enjoyed seeing the workshop like that, I think it looked very beautiful.

Taller de encuadernación expuesta - Exposed Binding Workshop

El pasado sábado 8 de febrero se realizó el taller de encuadernación expuesta en la escuela de arte El Molí, en Girona. 

On February 8th, last Saturday, took place the exposed binding workshop in the school of arts El Molí, in Girona.

Hacer este taller fue muy divertido y, la verdad, me muero de ganas de hacer más. Así que, próximamente, anunciaremos otro taller. 

Making this workshop was much fun and I am really looking forward to make more. So, soon, we'll probably announce another one.

Talleres de encuadernación - Bookbinding Workshops

El viernes 17 de enero en la mañana realicé un taller de encuadernación copta en la escuela El Molí de Girona.
On January 17th I did a Coptic bookbinding workshop in El Molí of Girona.

El sábado 18 enero, en el mismo lugar, tuvo lugar el taller de encuadernación belga secreta con cuatro chicas y un niño aún por nacer. 

On January 18th, in the same place, the Secret Belgian binding workshop took place with four girls and a "boy-to-be".

Taller de encuadernación belga secreta - Secret Belgian Binding Workshop

El pasado 18 de septiembre realicé el taller de encuadernación belga secreta en la escuela de arte El Molí, situada en Girona (Cataluña). El taller se desarrolló sin problemas y fue una experiencia muy enriquecedora que pronto espero repetir. Os dejo con algunas imágenes.

Last September 18 I participated in a Secret Belgian bookbinding worshop in the school of art El Molí, located in Girona (Catalonia). The workshop was smooth and it was a very rich experience that I hope to repeat soon. Here are some images.
